Antique Woodworking Tools

This photo shows one of the most unusual antique tools, with certainly the most unusual name: the FROE. It was used for splitting wood along the grain.      The illustration below is from Eric Sloane's "A Museum of Early American Tools". It shows what the froe can do, in a much better way than I could ever describe it.
